Candy by Kevin Brooks

(

) The main dude, Joe, meets this girl, Candy, that he falls head over heels for. However, he doesn't know much about her - and what he does know isn't good. He soon finds out her dirty, dangerous ways of living and her deadly addictions. Thereafter, his own life is threatened and they both run off to escape her overbearing pimp. But it isn't long until Joe's whole life (family and friends) is turned upside-down due to his sacrifices made for Candy. It all comes down to some simple choices that change both of their lives, as well as others', forever. Overall, the read can be slow in the beginning - and in the end it's just like a non-stop action tale warning kids not to make bad choices or hang out with the wrong people. Reminds me a bit of
Go Ask Alice, but with more plot and violence.
